Wine Tasting: Strawberry Moscato

One thing to know about me is that I love love love moscato wine. The sweetness draws me in, however the sugar in it makes me pay for it the next morning with massive headaches. Moscato is a style of wine made from muscat grapes. It's famous for sweet flavors of peaches and orange blossom and because it's lower in alcohol than other sparkling wines.

Do you want to drink a bottle of wine but don’t want to break your bank account for a bottle? No worries! Head down to your local Kroger grocery store and pick up a Bay Bridge Strawberry Moscato for the cheap price of $3.49. Yep! That’s right! Three dollars and forty nine cents.

This wine was vinted and bottled at Bay Bridge Vineyards in Livermore, California. It is from the year 2023, and needs no time in a cellar, as well as being massed produced. The alcohol level for this wine is 6.5% ABV.

Store Review: At Bay Bridge Vineyards, we carefully select grapes from some of the finest vineyards to craft wines with vibrant fruit and elegant structure. Bay Bridge wines are full of flavor, rich in color and smooth in taste, which makes them delicious and the perfect accompaniment to any meal. Bay Bridge Strawberry Moscato is deliciously sweet, full of flavor, and smooth in taste. Enjoy aromas of juicy ripe strawberries that lead to a sweet finish which makes this wine the perfect complement to any occasion.

Self Review: This light bodied, sweet wine is yummy to my tummy. I believe the idea that humans are naturally attracted to sugary beverages. I really enjoyed this apparent taste of strawberry with what seemed to have a sparkling in it, a little bit bubbly. I did buy it from the refrigerated section, so it was already chilled. Ironically, I craved spicy foods when drinking.

According to the Wine Folly textbook, on page 138, it is suggested to be chilled and you would use a white wine glass with no need to decant. The sweetness level is at its all time high, while low in alcohol levels. Though Moscato is often sweet, its low alcohol (5-7% ABV) and refreshing flavor makes moscato more than just a dessert wine.
